Put AI in service of your mission.

Social impact organizations are uniquely positioned to benefit from AI - and uniquely at risk of getting it wrong.

Your work is relational, values-driven, and deeply human. The last thing you need is technology that distracts or disconnects your people from why they showed up in the first place.

Through Braid for Social Impact, we apply our Braided Organization framework to the unique constraints and ambitions of the social impact sector.

Our mission is to help yours. We empower leaders to meet the scale of today’s challenges by ensuring their people reach their full potential in the AI era.

Debbie Ahenkorah is the Lead for Braid’s Social Impact practice. Debbie works with Cameron to combine expertise from three worlds that rarely speak to each other: corporate transformation, social impact leadership, and AI research.

“I'm passionate about Braid For Social Impact because I've lived on both sides of this work.

For fifteen years I founded and scaled mission-driven organizations across Africa, learning firsthand what it costs a lean, passionate team to operate at continental scale with limited tools and infrastructure. I'm driven now by the realization that if we could do so much with so little then, imagine what becomes possible when social impact organizations leverage the full power of AI.

Today, as a Responsible AI Specialist at Concordia University's Applied AI Institute, I help mission-driven organizations integrate AI in ways that amplify impact without compromising values. I'm a hands-on practitioner comfortable across the full AI stack from Claude, Gemini and Meta AI to NotebookLM, ElevenLabs, Elicit and Perplexity.

My work has been recognized through fellowships including Echoing Green and Aspen New Voices, the Grinnell Prize, and the Global Pluralism Award.”
